Tee-Shirt Design

I just finished making a cool tee-shirt for my dad. He's works at Clearwater Christian College, where I went to college. Anyway, they are hosting an alumni volleyball weekend, and he asked me to design a tee-shirt. Yes, they do have a graphic designer in house, but his plate is full and overloaded. So here's what I came up with....
It was actually a delightful accident. I had already put my ink splotches and the school's logo on my layout. I had downloaded a bunch of new fonts, and was trying to decided which to use for this project, so I just kept typing "volleyball" in each one and kept moving them around and changing sizes. Pretty soon my page was filled up with volleyball words and I liked the way it looked. It was a big hit! I like designing tshirts......

New Hard Drive

Have you ever had your computer give you a warning that if you don't shut down some of the stuff you're doing, it will crash b/c of a lack of memory? Well....if you haven't, it's no fun. I bought a 120 G MacBook a year and a half ago (and love it, by the way), but in a year-and-a-half, I was down to 5 Gs of memory. A digiscrapper's worst nightmare.....

Let me tell you what I did Saturday....

Saturday morning I bought a Toshiba 500G external hard drive from Best Buy, and I was talking to the sales guy about different ways to set it up, and he said to me "Y'know, you can just take that bad boy apart and install it into your computer. Alls ya gotta do is pop off the plastic, take out your laptop battery, unscrew 3 screws, pull out the old hard drive in pop in the new one. You can watch kids do it on you tube" So I went home, and watched kids do it on you tube....I also found some directions on the apple website. And after the speed scrap @ PrettyScrappy on Saturday, I started taking the EHD apart, then my laptop, then my hard drive, then I put in the new hard drive, formatted it, re-installed my operating system....by that time is was 2:45 am, so I decided to go to bed. Sunday's church...we're pretty busy all day. So on Monday, I start pulling my stuff off my backup drive. There were 3 different ways to do it, and I guess I must have chosen the slowest way to do it b/c it took 42 hours to restore 115G of stuff from my backup to my new hard drive...but at 545 this morning it was all back, and now I have 500Gs of memory on my computer!

This was about the craziest, techno-geeekiest thing I have ever done. Wait....take out the "about." This was FOR CERTAIN the craziest, techno-geekiest thing I have ever done. And while I was waiting the 42 hours for my backup to be restored onto my computer, I did wonder if it was worth it. And my answer was...yeah...if it all restores, then it's totally worth it. I had to "unplug" for a few days. I had lots of Facebook and email to catch up on, but that's not the end of the world. And now I have a ton of memory and no peripheral hard drive to worry about.....Let the downloading begin!!!!

Fall Festival Blog Train new links

Hi! I've been having big problems with my box.net account. When I called them, the solution they suggested was to upgrade my account and pay them more money. Nice. NO THANK YOU!!
So I've switched to a mediafire account, and here are your new links. Thanks for your patience!

finished choir tour album!!!!

FALL FESTIVAL BLOG TRAIN IS BELOW.....

Yes! I finally finished the choir tour album! It's 39 pages long, and I had it printed @ artscow.com. I've always had really good experiences with artscow. They have the best prices, and are always offering specials on products and shipping. It does take a while to receive your finished products, so on the "instant gratification" scale, they score pretty low. But when it comes to making my wallet happy, they score high. I ordered 2 8x8 albums, and got them both for less than $25. I used a coupon code ($11.99 shipped), but anyone that signs up for their emails get these codes too! Getting one book without any discounts costs $32.

Enough about artscow...

In this album, I wanted to try to use 1 kit for every page, and I did. For those of you who have visited before, you know I"ve been using Teri Mayo's kit Somethin's Fishy, and I used it on every page. At the end, I did end up using some word art from Digi-Designs by Nicole and ScrapGirls, and I used one "shadow box" thingy by Amy Teets (I think....I may have gotten that name wrong...sorry!). At the outset, I wondered if the album would look "boring" or "matchy-matchy," and I was hoping I wouldn't get bored with it, and I'm pleased to say....I didn't! I'm really pleased with how everything looks, and the cohesiveness of the album. I even made some templates, and was able to use them alot. I rotated them so they'd look different, and I liked how that turned out too. If you can't see the preview below, it means that you don't have a plug in called silverlight. It's what artscow uses for their previews, and you can download it free. You could also try to see it at the artscow gallery....
